Animals approach tourist driving through the Wild Safari at Six Flags
Animals approach tourist driving through the Wild Safari at Six Flags. Wild Safari is the largest drive-thru safari outside of Africa. This 350-acre wildlife preserve is home to 1,200 animals, including several endangered species. The 4. 5-mile auto trail lets the animals walk right up to your car for an up-close encounter. This Ostrich takes a close up view to tourists driving through the Safari. Ostriches are two-toed, flightless birds that, while friendly, are extremely dangerous to approach. When defending themselves, ostriches use their powerful legs to kick forward, and their sharp toenails to inflect a mortal wound. These African birds can stand nine feet tall and weigh up to 400 pounds. * Male ostriches are black and females are gray. * The female ostrich lays up to 10-60 eggs each season, with several females and males sharing a nest. * Both males and females incubate the eggsófor a period of up to 42 days. * Their eggs are the largest of any living bird, weighing 2-1/2 to 3-1/12 pounds, and having the volume of a dozen chicken eggs.
