Italian legend says Italy is one of favorites of EURO 2020

ROME, ITALY - JUNE 8,08: "In my opinion, Italy is one of the favorites of this tournament," said the legendary Italian goalkeeper Dino Zoff on Tuesday, June 8.Zoff, who took part as a player in the first and only European Championship won by Italy in 1968 and reached the final with the Italian national team as a coach in EURO 2000, evaluated the upcoming EURO 2020.“Italy, in my opinion, is one of the favorites of this tournament. It has always played well both in the qualifiers and in the friendly matches lately. I think, it has potential to do well. However, many components must come together to win. So, I believe that it (Italy) is a complete team,” he said.He said that even if there would be a small number of fans in the stadiums due to the pandemic, this small number may be a moral support for Italy, one of the host countries.“I see Italy as a good team. There will be fans at the matches, albeit in small numbers. This also helps. Without the fans, things might have turned out differently. Having fans in the stadiums is an advantage for Italy,” he said.On the match to be played between Turkey, one of the teams expected to surprise in the tournament, and Italy, Zoff said he considers Italy luckier.“Qualified Turkish players playing in the Italian league can make a small contribution to Turkey.
