Artwork of Saturn and Moon Rhea - stock photo
This illustration shows the gas giant Saturn with some of its many satellites in front. In the foreground is Rhea, the second largest moon of this planet, after Titan. With a mean diameter of 1528 km (764 miles), Rhea is about half the size of our own Moon. Its surface is heavily cratered, with two very large impact basins and numerous fractures. Its density suggests it is made up of about one-quarter rock and three-quarters water ice. Four other Saturnian moons can be seen in the distance, close to the ring plane. From left to right they are Dione, Mimas, Enceladus and Tethys
