Official Visit of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al Nahyan

(Original Caption) Guests arrive for a formal dinner honoring Sheik Zayed bin Sultan al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, during his state visit with French President Francois Mitterrand at Elysee Palace. As a result of this visit, a new era of economic cooperation between the two countries was ushered in. During the four day visit, a number of agreements on encouraging and protecting mutual investments, technical cooperation, air transport, and other negotiations were signed. Also, an agreement on military cooperation was concluded to hold joint military maneuvers, and conduct tests on the French tank (Leclerc) that UAE had purchased earlier.
