Masterpiece Castle Palace Rebuilt in Nagoya, Ready to Welcome Public

Video footage shows the lavishly decorated interior of Nagoya Castle’s Honmaru Palace, which will open to public viewing on June 8 following a nine-year, 13 billion-yen reconstruction work. Considered the greatest castle palace of its age, the original structure was completed in 1615 under the orders of Tokugawa Ieyasu (1542-1616) and was later expanded with its gorgeous Jyorakuden chamber for accommodating the shogun. The palace, designated a national treasure in 1930, was destroyed by fire during a bombing raid in 1945.
