Activist Ravi Ragbir granted Temporary Stay, demonstrators hold rally, Foley Square - Manhattan - NYC

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - FEBRUARY 10, 2018: Popular immigrant activist Ravi Ragbir's deportation was temporarily suspended pending legal court proceedings rescheduled for March 2018 and has been granted a temporary stay. Ravi Ragbir is the executive director of the New Sanctuary Coalition of New York City. The rally in Foley Square in support of Ragbir is held in light of ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) continued efforts to deport him. After the rally Ragbir and the demonstrators marched from Foley Square to the nearby Jacob Javits Federal Building on 26 Federal Plaza where the paused and prayed facing the rear of the federal building. Ravi Ragbir was scheduled to for deportation on February 10, 2018. The rally was initially planned to protest and prevent his deportation. The event was attended by various politicians. The title of the rally was ‘You Can’t Deport a Movement’. The February 10 event follows the January 11, 2018 rally in support of Ragbir in which multiple people were arrested - among them politicians.
