Martin Scorsese Says He Thought "Raging Bull" Would Be the End of His Career
Interviewer: Are you surprised that it reached so many people?
Martin Scorese: I was very surprised, I thought it was the end of my career, that film. Quite honestly I thought De Niro was going to be fine. Because Bob was going to get his award because I knew he was such a wonderful actor. He would get his academy award. But I thought that I was going to go off to Italy and do films on Saints 16 MM.
