Guilin, Guangxi, China - October 4, 2007: The Longsheng Rice Terraces are located in a county to the north of Guilin city in Guangxi province in the South of China. The area is noted for its cultural diversity with several ethnic groups living in the mountains and valleys. The village of Longji is particularly noted for its vast number of rice terraces that cover the mountainsides. Many tourists visit the village to photograph the terraces that are said to look like the scales on a dragon's back. The traditional houses in the area are multi-story wooden dwellings built on stilts on the hillsides with overhanging upper floors.
