Boats pass through the Soten Canal between Bovallstrand and Smøgen in the Swedish archipelago - stock photo

The Sotekanalen, (or Sote kanal) is a dug and blasted canal, located in the peninsula of Ramsviklandet, farthest west on Sotenäset in Sotenäs municipality in Bohuslän. Ramsvikslandet is part of the Sotenäset and was a peninsula until the 1930s, when the partly blasted and dug Sotekanalen was built. A swing bridge today connects the island with the mainland. The canal is a popular inland waterway for leisure boats.
