Elizabeth, New Jersey: Making her last trip on Thanksgiving Day, the former French luxury liner, Normandie, is fased through the 200-foot-wide Central Railroad Bridge connecting Elizabeth and Bayonne, on her way to the scrap heap at Port Newark, New Jersey. The 83, 432-ton vessel, built and furnished at a cost of $62, 000,000 was towed to the scrapyard from her berth in Brooklyn, on November 28. November 28, 1946.
