Burning Kee Bird and Taxi Tracks

The Kee Bird was a B-29 which was ditched in Greeland 270 miles north of Thule Air Base in 1947, and was restored in 1993-1995, only to burn in a taxi test. The taxi tracks can be seen in the foreground snow. During the test, the plane taxied out onto a nearby frozen lake, dooming the wreakage to sink into the lake when it thawed. | Location: North of Thule Air Base, Greenland.
