Sir William Macpherson of Cluny today (Weds) faces the media, as he prepares to chair the public inquiry into the death of murdered black teenager Stephen Lawrence, which starts next Monday at Hannibal House, Elephant & Castle, in London. *14/12/2000 Sir William Macpherson who dismissed claims Thursday 14 December 2000, made by Tory leader William Hague that his report highlighting institutional racism in the police had led to a reduction in the police stop and search policy and a rise in crime.
