1952: Scottish actor Finlay Currie (1878 - 1968) as Cedric in the film 'Ivanhoe', directed by Richard Thorpe for MGM films. Currie worked as a choirmaster and organist before taking to the stage as 'Harry Calvo, the double-voiced vocalist' after which he toured Australia for ten years as a comic with Sir Benjamin Fuller's acting troupe. His best known film role is the convict Magwitch in 'Great Expectations' (1946) and he also starred in 'The History of Mr Polly', and appeared in 'Around the World in 80 Days' (1956).
