Trick Play Scores a Putout

Phil Cavarretta (left), Chicago infielder, made a sensational stop of Eddie Mayo's smash to his right in the 4th inning of the third series game. Falling to the ground, he tossed the ball from the prone position to pitcher, Claude Passeau (13) in time to retire Mayo (3-running at right). Ball can be seen just over the umpire John Conlon's right shoulder.
