(Original Caption) 4/18/1967-New York, NY- Italy's Nino Benvenuti staggers on the ropes after taking a long right on the side of the head from Emile Griffith in round four of their 14-round middleweight world championship bout at Madison Square Garden April 17. Nino got upright at referee Mark Conn's count of five and was able to stay out of serious danger the rest of the round. The Italian went on to become champ with a brilliantly fought decision over Grifftith.
