Mrs. William Woodward, wife of Nashua's owner, joins in the hilarity as she shakes hands with Eddie Arcaro, who engineered the winner. The winner's time for the mile and three-sixteenths classic was one minute 54-3/5th seconds. the victory was worth $67,550, running Nashua's lifetime earnings to $569,990.
