Inguinal Canal, Pouparts'S Ligament, Spermatic Cord, & Cremaster Muscle

Illustration from 'Surgical Anatomy: The Treatise of the Human Anatomy and Its Applications to the Practice of Medicine and Surgery, volume III' (by Dr. John Blair Deaver) shows the inguinal canal, a space in the lower part of the abdominal wall, immediately above and nearly parallel with the inner one-half of Poupart's Ligament, 1903. The spermatic cord is the structure which extend from the internal abdominal ring, where its component parts are collected, to the testicle. Poupart's Ligaments (crural or femoral arch) is the lower border of that portion of the aponeurosis of the external oblique muscle extending between the anterior superior spinous process of the ilium and the spine of the pubis. The cremaster muscle is a muscle that covers the testis. . (Photo by VintageMedStock/Getty Images)
