Baseball Player Hank Aaron Standing in Dugout
(Original Caption) Hank Aaron of the Milwaukee Braves, already the home rum and runs-batted-in king of the majors, was named the National League's most valuable player by a close margin over two "old pro" rivals. Hank, who powered the Braves to the world championship, received 239 votes in the Baseball Writers' Association of America poll, edging out Stan Musial (230) of the St. Louis Cardinals and Red Schoendienst (221) the spark plug of the Braves.
