Dog Sled Racer Holding Lead Dog

(Original Caption) Dog sled races are a yearly event here and form the most spectacular hit of the season. Among the famous dogs and drivers who will participate in this event are: Leonard Seppala of Alaska with a team of seven dogs. The dogs are Siberian of the wolf type and the world famous dog "Togo" is the leader. It will be remembered that two years ago "Togo" led the team driven by Seppala when it carried the Diphtheria antitoxin on the longest relay to Nome. Seppala is pitted against Arthur Walden, winner of last year's races. Another entrant is Mrs. E.P. Ricker, mother of two children whose dogs, with the exception of the leader, are all offspring of "Chinook," the famous lead dog of the winning team of last year. The racers will cover 25 miles each day. The races are being held now.
