Volunteers Create New Vestments For St Paul's Cathedral
LONDON - AUGUST 29: An embroidery volunteer works on the lid of the box for the Bishop's mitre as a group of volunteers create part of a collection of over 200 vestments designed by Central Saint Martins woven textile student Marie Brisou and commissioned by St Paul's Cathedral as part of its 300th anniversary and GBP40 million campaign on August 29, 2008 in London, England. Marie Brisou won a competition for Central St Martins students in 2005 to design over 200 vestments for the four liturgical seasons. Gainsborough Silk wove the fabric for the garments which are being created by 18 volunteers run by studio manager Kate Sinton and a team of embroiderers led by Jane Raven in a small studio in the crypt of St Paul's cathedral.
