American track and field athlete Tommie Smith raises his right arm in the air to give a black power salute after finishing in first place in a world record time of 19.83 seconds to win the gold medal in the men's 200 metres event at the 1968 Summer Olympics inside the University Olympic Stadium in Mexico City, Mexico on 16th October 1968.
