Abraham Louis Breguet (1747 - 1823) - French watchmaker and mechanic, originally from Neuchâtel, then a Prussian principality. He made double astronomical clocks, double chronometers, sea clocks, sympathetic pendulum movements and metallic thermometers. Alongside his friend and contemporary John Arnold, Breguet is now widely acknowledged as one of the greatest horologists of all time. Wood engraving, published in 1869.
