The High Level Bridge is a road, rail and pedestrian bridge over the River Tyne connecting Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead. The bridge was designed by Robert Stephenson and built between 1847 and 1849 and is an early example of a wrought iron tied arch or bow-string girder bridge.
