The Pentland Hills begin just south of Edinburgh and run in a south-westerly direction for about 20 miles.This view is looking south from Castlelaw Hill with Glencorse Reservoir in the middle-ground.Pentland Hills Regional Park was designated in 1984. It covers an area of 90 km squared. The park, together with the rest of the hills, are used for a variety of recreational activities including hillwalking, mountain biking, horse riding, golf and skiing at the artificial ski slope at the Hillend Ski Centre. Hillend ski slope is the longest dry ski slope in Europe.
