Rescued Stray Dogs From Sochi, Russia Olympics Arrive At Local Shelter

WASHINGTON, DC - MARCH 26: A wet nose of one of ten dogs rescued from the streets of Sochi, Russia during the winter olympics arrives at Washington Animal Rescue League in Washington, DC on March 26, 2014. WARL partnered with the Humane Society International/Humane Society of the United States to bring the dogs here. All the dogs are adults. Once acclimated, the canine's will be ready for approved adoptions. During the winter olympic games, dogs could be seen wandering the streets and sidewalks around Olympic venues and neighborhoods. Olympian skier Gus Kenworthy started the idea of bringing the dogs to the U.S. after it became known that local russian authorities planned to hire a pest control company to exterminate the dogs.
