Fukushima Fishermen Blast TEPCO Over Failure to Disclose Radioactive water flow

IWAKI, JAPAN - FEBRUARY 25: Tsunemasa Niitsuma (C), deputy head of TEPCO's Fukushima Revitalization Headquarters, apologises at a meeting with Fukushima fishermen, including Tetsu Nozaki (L), head of the Fukushima Prefectural Federation of Fisheries Cooperative Associations on February 25, 2015 in Iwaki, Fukushima, Japan. Fishermen lambasted TEPCO over the utility's failure for half a year to disclose the flow into the ocean of water contaminated with radioactive materials from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. Fishermen have repeatedly expressed anger and frustration at TEPCO's plans, mishaps and belated disclosures in its handling of huge volumes of contaminated water generated daily and stored on the grounds of the crippled plant. The company started regular measurements of radioactive materials in the drainage ditch in April 2014. In August, the utility detected beta rays released by radioactive materials of about 1,500 becquerels per liter, more than 10 times higher than normal. (Photo by The Asahi Shimbun via Getty Images)
