Huge mining giants from Europe, China and India are pumping billions of dollars into virgin territories in far northern Quebec in a race to satisfy a growing global appetite for iron ore. Here in Fermont, the flourishing iron ore excavation industry is driving the local economy in a town which is home to the giant mining concern Arcelor Mittal Mining Canada, one of North America's leading producers of iron ore.
