TAVIRA, PORTUGAL-JULY 20, 2012: Scorching summer temperatures and drought have helped trigger intense forest fires in Portugal. This image features the Algarve region near the city of Tavira. Authorities have deployed planes and helicopters to combat the flames, including an aircraft sent by Spain’s Civil Defense. Firefighters were pulled from the Algarve region to battle fires is the Portuguese archipelago of Madeira when local resources became overwhelmed.
