(Original Caption) - Sadeq Al-Mahdi, 50, is the leader of the Umma, Sudans's largest party. Umma derives it's strength from the Al-Ansar sect founded by Al-Mahdi's great, great grandfather. The Mahdi of Khartoum, who fought the British in the 1880's. Sadeq Al-Mahdi served as Prime Minister in the 1960's and is tipped to take on the post again after this month's general elections.
