'The Protestant Barn Mystery' Exhibition Presentation

FLORENCE, ITALY - APRIL 15: A finger points to a detail of the painting where the optical analysis revealed traces of a signature in an earlier version of the painting 'The Protestant Barn' ahead of the press conference for the exhibition 'Vincent Van Gogh - The enigma of Protestant Barn' which is hosted in Palazzo Panciatichi, the seat of the Regional Council of Tuscany, on April 15, 2014 at the Palazzo Panciatichi in Florence, Italy. 'The Protestant Barn' is a painting which some believe to be the last work by Vincent Van Gogh before he died in Auvers-sur-Oise, probably the location of the painting. However, it is currently the object of debate as most art experts consider it to be a fake. Scientific studies to evaluate the time of realization have taken place, including radiographic analyses of the painting which have shown three different drafts of the plan of the picture, indicating it appears to have been painted in three different time periods over seven years. Further tests for the presence of biological traces of the artist will also be carried out. (Photo by Laura Lezza/Getty Images)
